Kempo National Team Makes a Mark in the World Championship

The National Team of Kempo Defense Sports Federation made a mark with their successful achievements at the 17th IKF (Kempo Federation) Kempo World Championship held in Antalya. The Kempo national team, which participated in the 17th IKF Kempo World Championship held in Antalya, Turkey, from October 25th to 31st, concluded the championship successfully by winning a total of 9 medals, including 2 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Kempo National Team Delegation

The Kempo national team delegation, under the leadership of Kempo Defense Sports Federation President Mehmet İngenç, included 7 athletes – Ekim Özgüvenli, Mustafa Bürüncük, Umar Abdulaziz, Can Uğuroğlu, Tarık Yayar, Mertsan Çakırlı, Büşra Turan – along with coach Cuma Öztürk and referee Vedat Yayar. A total of 90 countries were represented by 320 athletes, 7 athletes, 1 coach, 1 referee, and 2 administrators in the 17th IKF Kempo World Championship held in Antalya.

Medals in Categories

After the establishment of the Kempo Defense Sports Federation, the Kempo national team officially participated for the first time in the 17th IKF Kempo World Championship held in Antalya, Turkey, achieving significant successes. In the 16-18 age group, Büşra Turan secured the third position in Semi Kempo 65 kg by defeating Turkish opponent Fatmagül Kabuk. In the U16 age group, Tarık Yayar became the World 2nd by defeating his Indonesian opponent Raka Natawijaya Raharjo in Semi Kempo 60 kg. Additionally, he secured the third position in the Full Kempo category by losing to Romanian opponent Garoafa Alexandru. Mertsan Çakırlı secured the third position in 90 kg against Mihai Iulian in Semi and Full Kempo categories.

In the 21-38 category, Can Uğuroğlu secured the 5th position in Semi Kempo 65 kg by losing to Said Allali and the third position in Full Kempo by being eliminated by Portuguese opponent Ricardo Fonseca in the quarter-finals. Mustafa Bürüncük secured the third position in Submission category against Hicham Djouahir and also in Knockdown category by losing to Andrei Fiazanov. Ekim Özgüvenli secured the second position in the Submission category by losing to French opponent Alix Jeanguillaume in the finals. The Kempo national team succeeded in winning a total of 9 medals, including 2 silver and 7 bronze medals, in the 17th IKF Kempo World Championship.

C Class Referee Certificates Awarded

During the 17th IKF Kempo World Championship held in Antalya, Vedat Yayar and Cuma Öztürk were awarded C Class referee certificates by the Kempo World Federation President, Amatto Zaharıa.

Mustafa Bürüncük (Submission and Knockdown categories, 65 kg – 3rd Place each)
